Almost no one selling operating-model work has sat in all four seats — which is why I can both design a new way of operating and run the hard part of making the change stick.

I do this because systems produce what they are designed to produce, and most companies are running on a design nobody actually chose. Changing that changes what the people inside the company are able to do.
